Today is an exciting day for everyone at Xobni. After seven months of invite-only beta, and over two years of product development, we’re proud to announce that Xobni is now publicly available for anyone to download. Xobni can be downloaded for free here.

It has taken a lot of hard work to get to this point. Our team has grown from two guys in an apartment in Cambridge, Massachusetts to a group of 14 dedicated team members in San Francisco that call Xobni home.
While the Xobni team has been working hard to make Xobni a success, our users also deserve a lot of credit. Your feedback has been essential in helping us to improve the performance and features of Xobni over the past seven months. We have responded to thousands of support and feedback emails from the over 50,000 individuals that have downloaded Xobni during our seven month closed beta period. We have had several dozen beta users visit us at the Xobni headquarters for user studies and another several dozen users have done remote performance and configuration tests with our engineers.
We will continue to work hard to improve the Xobni experience. Xobni has done a lot to improve our users’ email lives, but email and personal information still have a long way to go. Xobni and its users still have a long way to go, and we wouldn’t want it any other way.

Hi, I’m using the Xobni. It’s very cooooooooooooool. I love it!
But from my perspective, there is one thing need improvement. I can reply, forward the emails in Xobni panel, but I cannot delete the emails or conversations. So I have to go back to the outlook window to find the mails, which create double work. I believe it will be great if users can delete emails/conversations in Xobni panel.
Hi I found there is another problem. I’m not sure whether it happens to other users. When I delete a mail from outlook, even delete it from the “Deleted Items”, it won’t reflet in Xobni. I can still find the deleted mails in Xobni panel. Can this be fixed some day?

Congrats Xobni! I’ve been using the program for about 2 weeks now and think it’s pretty awesome. Of course there are always features that can be added to make the program more useful, but it’s a great start! Great idea.

Like how you have “Turing’d”* (as Kevin Kelley puts it ) a number of email tasks like requesting phone numbers and letting people know how much they talk with others and measuring a number of other elements. Hope people who might compete with me for success in the workplace don’t discover it too soon :).
Particularly in the wake of Lookout’s discontinuation by Microsoft, I’m happy to have Xobni as a worthy replacement.
My only criticism — your tool is just too much fun to use — the colors appearing for each separate search, the pleasure of getting search results and how they are laid out, and so on. Can you make your program just a little less fun to use so I can spend less time using it :).

Congrats! Wicked cool. I’ve been looking for a replacement for X1 for a while. Is there a forum where you are looking at user suggestions for features?
After reading the Press Release this morning on google I ran over to see what all the fuss was about. As the IT Director here at our network. After only playing with it for roughly 20-30 minutes I sent out a blast to all local and wide area clients that XOBNI is a required install for Windows users. It will save our employees a large amount of time while using Outlook. Great job!
I am looking forward to a MAC release someday I hope.

I’ve been using Xobni for about two weeks. It’s AWESOME! As a project manager working on an account for one of America’s top ten banks, I have to wade through countless emails and contacts on a daily basis. Xobni has saved me an incredible amount of time bringing all the information I need quickly and easily. Great product! I will be using this a long time to come.
The first time I downloaded Xobni, my computer froze. I then uninstalled it.
After the second time, I was prompted to download .netframe. It didn’t work. My computer just hung up. Too many resources were activated.
The third time, my computer was rendered in a zombie-like state. I uninstalled it the program.
I now have to reinstall Windows to get my computer running as it did -preXobni.
If I every try it again, it wil be well after the actual release.
A terrible experience.

Thanks for an awesome improvement on MS Outlook. I saw the mention on LifeHack (I think), instantly installed it at work, and am digging it. Very effective.
The download pages “click here” link goes to the homepage and not to a download. Is a public beta over or something? Wondering if it’s still available.

This doesn’t really work well, does it? I mean, I go to the download page once, it gives me a link to 3644. I follow the same link a minute after, it gives me 3771. HOWEVER, at the same time, the latest version advertised on the forum is 3669. I mean WHY don’t you simply give out the latest version if there is already one. Why all the confusion???

But:
1. Auto-update doesn’t work.
2. If you want to upgrade manually, you download the setup but once launched, it tells you that an uninstall of the old version is required first.
Too time-consuming to keep up with the latest version…and since the product is in beta, this shoul definitely be addressed quickly…

I was at a microsoft outlook training today. the trainer was telling the class how powerful microsoft desktop search is and how much it adds to outlook email search. By the end of the class I convinced at least 6 (out of 10 i think) to remove window search 3.0 and install xobni then and there. Impressed by Xobni’s performance, they ditched desktop search and installed Xobni!
This software is awesome!
I’m with Alessandro, the update doesn’t seem to work, and re-installing removes all the pictures I’ve (painstakingly 😉 added to contacts!
Any update on the update issue? 😉

Paul, It sounds like you might be behind a proxy server. That currently prevents us from shipping updates. This issue is discussed in the Xobni community forum: http://community.xobni.com/showthread.php?t=761

Is there an option for Lotus Notes, or something similar, it would be a great idea to adapt it to the v8 platform, since it is very much collaboration oriented, and for sure I would use it :).
